Overview

The new project sharing feature allows project owners to share their Source projects with anyone on the web. Clients, consultants, and contractors can be invited to collaborate on a project in real-time. Each collaborator can be assigned project-specific permissions.

Who can be invited as a collaborator

Anyone with a valid email address can be invited to a project as a collaborator. Once invited, collaborators will be emailed an invitation with the link to the project. If the collaborator is already a Source member, the shared project will be visible in their projects list. Collaborators who are not already Source members will be asked to sign up before collaborating, and will be automatically granted a guest role.

Collaborator Guest role

The new Guest role has been created to grant collaborators who do not already have a Source account quick access to shared projects, without needing full membership approval. Collaborators who are guests will only be able to view projects shared with them. Guests may not search the catalog, view repfinder or brand pages, or create their own projects. Guests may request approval to become fully-approved Source members (upcoming).

Collaborator restrictions

Collaborators who have been invited to a project may not copy, archive, or edit project details (location, type, description, etc). Collaborators may not invite other users to join projects shared with them.

Project Permissions

For each project, collaborators can be assigned either of the following permissions:

  • View Only - Collaborators may view & filter List, Grid & Budget views, but may not edit, add, or delete project data

  • View & Edit - In addition to viewing permissions, collaborators can add products, create specs, and edit budget information.

Limitations

Projects that are designated as “private” can not be seen by others in your organization and cannot be shared with others outside of your organization.

Inviting Collaborators

Collaborators may be invited to projects from the sharing column of the projects table, the sharing tab of the projects list, or the header of any project.

To invite a collaborator:

  1. Click on the sharing icon

  2. Enter the collaborator’s email address

  3. Set the collaborator’s permissions

  4. Invite the collaborator

Collaborators will be emailed an invitation to the project. Collaborators who are already Source members will automatically see the newly shared project in their projects list. Collaborators who are not yet Source members will be asked to sign up before accessing the project.

Managing Collaborators

Collaborators are most easily managed from the project sharing tab

Here you can add new collaborators, resend collaborator invitation emails, update existing collaborator permissions, or remove collaborators from your project.
